Lacquer Beauty
The making of beautifully handcrafted lacquer or “lac” jewellery is an art form practiced in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Lacquer is an all natural material derived from tree sap, on which the desired design is first engraved. This is then carefully merged together with beaten colored metal sheets and left to set, after which the resulting pieces are either used a-piece to form exquisite pendants and earrings, or joined together to form eye-catching necklaces. Multi-colored beads are then added to complete the piece of art.
